Artwork and Poetry
I frequently use poetry and artwork not only in my own personal development work, but also in my work with clients. They can be very powerful tools for expressing deep emotions, and supporting our journey to acknowledge and befriend those emotions in our life and work.
As I have been supported to be more adventurous in my own personal journey, my therapeutic work with clients has deepened. Pictures are powerful images made with pencil, crayon, material, coloured paper, felt, ribbons, buttons, pictures from magazines, felt tip, paints, photos - absolutely anything that feels right. It's nothing about producing an art masterpiece, but everything about expressing what's inside.

Serenity
I think a higher power gave me a sign
and I realised I needed some time for me,
so I went on a serenity weekend
and had a very wonderful time,
with people that I had never met.
I never thought that I could get so much out of strangers
and feel like they were my closest of friends
in such a short time.
I was amazed.
when you must reflect on where you are
in order to truly see where you are going.
I found it amazing with just one weekend of encouragement and serenity,
it made the difference between giving up and going on.
I found that Life isn't about what happens to me,
it's about how I handle what happens and learning that taking some time out
for myself can help me deal with day to day life.

Breathing Space Artwork
These pictures show some of the artwork produced by the group during the "Breathing Space" Creative Weekend in November 2009 in Glastonbury. The poem written by one of the group members was incorporated into the artwork created by the whole group.

Let Love Happen
Let the Door of our House never be locked;
Let Love happen because we can never not be loved;
Let Happiness happen because we can never not be forgiven;
Let there always be Fire in the Hearth,
And Bread in the Oven,
And Pure Water in the Well

Let's Play
Let's play. Let's have some fun;Let's run and jump and skip and laugh.
And if I trip, I'll pick me up
And you'll be there to hold me.
Let's play. Let's climb some trees
And wave to those below;
Let's watch the sticks float down the stream,
Throw bread to ducks
And get wet feet;
Make daisy chains,
Pick dandelions,
Speed past on bikes
And scream.
Let's play. Let's explore;
Let's watch the world
And picnic in the woods.
Let's paint some pictures
Big and bold
With colours everywhere
And hang them all around.
Let's sit and talk;
Hold hands and walk;
And have a big, big hug.
And at night, you'll read to me
And tuck me tight in bed.
"I love you", "I love you too".
And as I close my eyes and go to sleep
I'll remember what we did and said
And smile
For me and you.
